Cinematic journeys from Berlin to New York...

...to Bangkok meet animated graphic elements and form new worlds. Surfaces, colours and figures oscillate and the dreamlike pictures harmonise and clash to landscapes of sound from Techno to Jazz.

Since 2004 LUMA.LAUNISCH not only play in Vienna ’s most popular clubs, but have also hit the scene internationally. With their eccentric live-shows they have accompanied Peter Kruder, Richard Dorfmeister, Dominik Eulberg, Josh Wink, Jeans Team, Mocky, Extrawelt, Dj Mehdi, Bauchklang and Christopher Just.

As residents they are responsible for optical appearances at the RESOLUT-Nights in Vienna ’s Fluc Wanne and live performances by Gabriel Kogler (Traum Schallplatten) and Honolulu (Universal Music).

Since 2006 the VJ duo designs the visual show for the renowned annual Tyrolean Jazz Festival OUTREACH and improvised live with international jazz greats like Harvey S, Badal Roy, Dave Taylor, Franz Hackl, Adam Holzmann, Mike Keneally, John Clark, B3, Sound Liberation, Roy Alexandre, John Clark, Marco Minnemann, Adam Nitti, Amy Smith. . .

With the video installation SENSOREN, LUMA.LAUNISCH was a worthy representative at the Viennabiennale 2006 and lightened up the show, opening it with their live pictures.

In 2006 and 2007 LUMA.LAUNISCH was invited to New York to create visualizations of Gene Pritsker’s Opera ‘Money 1&2’. In the prestigious New Yorker Box club ‘Gleason’s Gym’ they staged the Kammermusik-Box-Show STRIKE with the International Street Cannibals using live visuals. The hard work was rewarded when the VJ-Duo was asked to produce a special show for the live program, ‘Duets with Ghosts’, for Lauryn Hill’s keyboarder, DANIEL KELLY.

Numerous festival performances (Urban Art Forms, Shining,Music Festival Bremen to name a few) and music video productions (Flex Records, female:pressure DVD and others) rounded out 2007. A highlight was the performance with Kristjan Järvi’s Absolute Ensemble and the Zawinul Syndicate in Vienna’s Concert House (A TRIBUTE TO JOE ZAWINUL).

In early 2008, LUMA.LAUNISCH was invited by the sound:frame Festival where, together with Gabriel Kogler, they presented the custom made A/V Installation Romantikaum Nr. 8 which was seen for four weeks in the Künstlerhaus Wien and which echoed positively in the local media. As experts they were represented at podium discussions along with their live show at the closing event.

LUMA.LAUNISCH understands how to solidify the intensity of music through the imaginative world of pictures and skilful speech.
